Historic
Project

Designed by Crosskey Architects and Structural Engineer James K. Grant Associates, Barton Commons was built on the site of the Historic Barton House in New Milford, CT. In order to maintain the character of the neighborhood, Barton House was removed from its original foundation and installed on a new one where it maintains its prominence among other historic homes along East Street. The interior of the Barton House was renovated to accommodate four apartments. The historic stairway was retained, the porch reconstructed to match the original, and windows and doors were replaced with new wood fenestrations to match the historic elements. An addition was added to the rear of the building housing 10 apartments. A second 24 unit building with tenant amenities is sited at the rear of the property.
