Housing for all: universally designed, income-integrated

A new multifamily, mixed-income housing community stands on an almost three-acre site in Farmington near UCONN Health. The development features two three-story buildings with a total of 65 apartments and townhouses offering a range of one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts. Residents enjoy shared indoor and outdoor amenity spaces designed for comfort and connection. FAVARH, a local housing partner that supports independent living for individuals with intellectual and developmental challenges, occupies a quarter of the units, which incorporate universal design elements that exceed ADA Standards. By blending subsidized and market-rate housing, the community reflects evidence-based approaches showing that income-integrated neighborhoods foster improved opportunities and health outcomes for disadvantaged populations. This project was designed to LEED Homes v4 Gold.
